Overview

During the first year of your baby’s life they will experience the most important stages of development.  One of our primary goals is the development of movement, independence and most importantly, security. Our “prepared environment” supports and responds to an infant’s basic needs  for independence, exploration, building trust and self-esteem. We are committed to promoting quality Montessori infant/toddler care for children 3 months – 18months, based on American Montessori Society principles. Our amid at Kids World is to accomplish the following:

  • Foster the development of basic trust 
  • Assist in the natural development of personality, based on unique needs and wants 
  • Respond appropriately to the infants needs to be loved, respected, and accepted. 
  • Nurture infants though their sense, allowing infants to observe and move freely. 
  • Offer holding and feeding comfort
  • Maintain a routine that will be both fellable to infant’s needs, yet predictable so the infant feels secure. 
  • Establish a partnership with the family. The family is a integral part of the human development. 
  • Develop a strong sense of self, self-confidence and independence.

Concepts

Out guides will incorporate the following tools:

1. Knowledge of Dr. Maria Montessori philosophy and methodology appropriate to infant development.

2. Knowledge of early childhood development 

3. Observational skills to assist the development of each child 

4. Environment that meets infants developmental need

5. Verbal and non-verbal communication skills 

6. Respect for the infant as an individual human being 

7. Respect for the environment as a resource for the infant’s development

8. Responsibility to assist and protect the infant’s development.



Practical life

Helping infant learn to drink from a bottle, and then a cup and then to eat unassisted. Gain independence.

Sensorial

Allowing the infant to learn about the work though their sense, response activities and touching and grasping various objects.

Language

Language activities and materials to encourage using words, increase vocabulary and conversational skills.

Art and Music

Through songs, sounds and dance, infants have access to variety of large muscle activities that offer them opportunities to jump, climb, balance, crawl, or skip.

Environment

Our environment set up will include the following:

  • Materials that allow infants to explore and experience and which are designed to meet the developmental stages and sensitive periods of infants. 
  • Classroom that conforms to the physical need for the child: e.g. Natural lighting, child size tables, chairs and other furnishing. 
  • Allowance for freedom and movement, which is essential to the development of the infant’s potential. 
  • Characteristics of order, simplicity and beauty which meet the needs of the child and inspires curiosity.
  • Flexible routine and activities that reinforce the rhythmic pattern and activities of individual infant which is designed to promote the development of social skills, emotional growth, and physical coordination, which will help the child gain independence and self-esteem as well as cognitive preparation for their future. 
  • Activities that are designed to help develop fine motor (pre-writing), vocabulary, develop coordination and strength. 
  • Freedom to explore the classroom to encourage curiosity and gross motor skills. 
  • Developmental grouping based on developmental stage: babies (non-crawler), crawlers and walkers (climbers), to allow for individualized growth.
